In early 2018, Gentle Lion’s doors opened with the audacious goal of redefining what it means to be a man. A year of learning, growing, and challenging both ourselves as well as our community has our team inspired more than ever. We are excited to review Gentle Lion’s first year’s accomplishments. Here are pictures right before we headed into the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras to launch the Gentle Lion class on November 19th. It was a powerful time together with the inmates, where we introduced ourselves, then Jacob led worship, Lamont shared his story, we broke up into smaller groups to talk and get to know each other’s story, then Scott closed with some final thoughts of encouragement and prayer. Lamont and the team will continue going back each week throughout the next 6 weeks of Manhood 33. Thanks for your prayers, as we work to break the systemic issues in our culture and equip these men who are hungry with the right answers and good tools to be better fathers, husbands and leaders in our community.
We are partnering with the Pregnancy Resource Center to offer classes to help prepare expecting moms and dad. We met to plan a 6 week class that will help moms learn basic baby care skill from the RN at the Pregnancy Resource Center and nutrition and cooking classes from our Gentle Lioness team. After the class concludes we will host a graduation dinner and offer them a safe place to come and join our Gentle Lion community.
As we continue to dig into the Manhood 33 Series on “A Man and His Work”, come break bread with us at our weekly 6:30 AM Breakfast Burrito group on Tuesdays and our 12 PM Lunch Bunch group on Wednesdays.
